Peter I. Hajnal

Peter I. Hajnal, author of the G8 study, is Research Fellow at the Munk Centre for International Studies, University of Toronto, Canada. A member of the G7/G8 Research Group of the University since 1988, he has attended twelve summits.

His main authored and (co-)edited publications on civil society and global governance include From G7 To G8: Evolution, Role and Documentation of a Unique Institution (Columbia International Affairs Online, Columbia University Press, 1998), The G7/G8 System: Evolution, Role and Documentation (Ashgate, 1999), Civil Society in the Information Age (Ashgate, 2002); Sustainability, Civil Society and International Governance: Local, North American and Global Perspectives (Ashgate, 2006) and The G7/G8 System and the G20: Evolution, Role and Documentation (Ashgate, 2007). His consultancy activities have included advising the Montreal International Forum (FIM) on relations with the G8 and conducting an independent assessment of the 2005 G8 Stakeholder Consultation for Chatham House, London.

 

During the workshop in Gothenburg Peter Hajnal’s G8 study was discussed by Muthoni Wanyeki, ex-Director, FEMNET and Yuriy Isakov, Civil Society Liaison at G8 2006. This discussion was chaired by Alice Urusaro Karekezi, SGS and the outcome of the discussion was used to develop and refine the study which will be published in book form along with all the other case studies in 2009.
