Building Global Democracy programme has secured its core funding until 2011. The Ford Foundation has granted a further $500k to secure the implementation of the whole programme as well as full costs of the first project, "Conceptualising Global Democracy".
The Building Global Democracy projects include activities such as a sequence of workshops, series of policy briefs and a set of five edited books with a major publisher. Furthermore, there will be presentations to academic and practitioner audiences and ongoing public communications through the programme website. There is also a public community built through the programme website to foster the interdisciplinary debate.
The costs of the pilot project for the programme, “Civil Society and Accountable Global Governance" were met by grants from the UK Economic & Social Research Council (£16k), the Ford Foundation ($15), the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SEK 80k), United Nations University ($20).
