The specialist authors that took part in our CGD project heralded from ten world regions and brought highly diverse perspectives to the issue of conceptualising global democracy including Austronesian culture, Confucian philosophy, feminism, Gandhian views, Islam, postcolonialism, post-communist socialism, and western liberalism.

Our Conceptualising Global Democracy (CGD) project also involved around 20 participants from official circles and the civil society who acted as discussants of the draft papers. Discussants include a human rights activist from Latvia, a democracy advocate from Lebanon, a trade unionist from New Zealand and a youth mobiliser from Trinidad. Read more about the discussants
