Wang Zhenyao

Wang Zhenyao has a PhD degree from Beijing University and MPA degree from Harvard University, receiving his Bachelor degree from Nakai university of Tianjin.

From 1988 to 1997, Wang was in charge of the national rural election program in the Department of the Basic-level Governance of Ministry of Civil Affairs of China. Under his leadership, more than 800 millions farmers can do competitive election until now. This is great political reform in China.

After 1997, Wang was moved to the Department of Disaster and Social Relief, where he promoted the establishment of the urban and rural minimum living standard system which cover the 70 million poor people.

Beginning at 2003, Wang pushed for the establishment of the national response system to natural disasters which was proven successful in the relief process of Wenchuan Earthquake at 2008. Wang also promotes national charity affairs in China, and he pushed the establishment the national system of orphan welfare and aging care system.

Now Wang is the president of China Social Policy and Research Institute Philanthropy of Beijing Normal University in Beijing.
