Timothy Shaw

Timothy Shaw, co-author of the Commonwealth study, is Professor of Human Security and Peacebuilding at Royal Roads University in Victoria, BC, Canada. He is also Professor Emeritus at the University of London and Visiting Professor at Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Makerere University Business School and Stellenbosch University.

He has published widely on globalization and development and edits the Palgrave Macmillan International Political Economy series. His writings on the Commonwealth have appeared inter alia in Commonwealth & Comparative Politics, Global Governance, Round Table, and Third World Quarterly. He is currently drafting the Commonwealth title in the Routledge series on Global Institutions. He has also been associated with the Commonwealth Foundation Civil Society Advisory Committee, which animates the biannual Commonwealth People’s Forum parallel to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting.

 

During the workshop in Gothenburg Pamela Mbabazi and Timothy Shaw’s Commonwealth study was discussed by Rajesh Tandon, Participatory Research in Asia and Daisy Cooper, Commonwealth Secretariat. This discussion was chaired by Sylva Frisk, SGS and the outcome of the discussion was used to develop and refine the study which will be published in book form along with all the other case studies in 2009.
