Shimri Zameret, BGD Programme Officer, holds a postgraduate degree in Global Politics from the LSE. He worked as a journalist, a researcher, a legislation adviser for a Palestinian member of the Israeli Parliament and as a communication and advocacy officer for a few grassroots organisations. He has been an Israeli peace activist from the age of 13, and at the age of 18 chose to be a conscientious objector, refused to enlist into the Israeli army, and was imprisoned for two years. He helped organise G8 counter -summits in Germany, Italy and Japan. In recent years he worked with different civil society groups in Asia, Africa and Europe, to promote the democratisation of global governance. He now lives in East London.
