Ricardo Meléndez-Ortiz

Ricardo Meléndez-Ortiz, co-discussant of the WTO study, is Co-founder and Executive Director of the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development (ICTSD) in Geneva. His previous experience encompasses responsibility in a diverse range of capacities at the interface of international trade and sustainable development; environmental policy; global governance; conflict management; inter-governmental negotiations; and, generative policy dialogue. Mr Meléndez-Ortiz serves or has served on a number of boards, panels and commissions, and worked as a consultant to several international and non-governmental organisations, development co-operation agencies and various governments. He has edited and published several books and papers in English, French and Spanish, and is since 1997 the publisher of the international periodical BRIDGES and its sister publications. His formal academic education was at Harvard University and Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá. He lives in Switzerland with his wife and two daughters.
