Dr Regina Gathoni Mwatha is author of 'Gender Empowerment and Global Democracy: Experiences from Kenya'.
She holds a PhD from University of Reading Britain. She is based at Kenyatta University in the Department of Sociology. She has over ten years experience teaching gender and development research methods and environmental sociology.
She has a number of publications related to various fields of gender such as education and value addition in both book chapters and refereed journals.
Her research focuses largely on gender in relation to value addition in the agricultural market chains She has been head of the department of sociology, director of research, Ag Dean school of Humanities and acted registrar (administration) at Kenyatta University before taking leave of absence for three years in 2008 to become executive chairperson national commission on gender and development.
