Nahla Chahal is a senior research fellow affiliated with the Arab reform Initiative, a consortium of Arab policy research institutes.
She was Associate Professor of Political Sociology - modern M.E., at the Lebanese University, from 1985 to 1996, a visiting professor at the St-Esprit University –Kaslik, Lebanon, during the academic year 2005. She is a weekly writer on three Arab daily newspapers: panarabic al Hayat (in the political supplement “Currents”), lebanese al Akhbar ( at “Opinion space”) and jordanian al Arab al Youm.
She has authored books and articles on Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Palestine political issues. Her latest publications are La formidable capacité d’intégration du système libanais, published in Nationalismes en mutation en Méditerranée orientale, CERI, Paris 2003 and Une irakité latente et en devenir, in Irak, le M-O sous le choc, l’Harmattan, Paris 2004.
