For the Media

The world has become more global. Pressing global challenges (climate change, financial instability, etc.) require governance. For that governance to be effective and legitimate it must be democratic. Without democratic governance of global affairs the coming years will bring severe strains, if not breakdown, in public policy.

The Building Global Democracy programme brings together hundreds of academics, activists and policymakers across the world in response to this challenge. BGD projects explore subjects such as:
•    the meaning of global democracy
•    accountability in global governance
•    including marginalised countries and social circles in global policymaking
•    achieving more equitable distributions of global resources
•    forging more democratic intercultural negotiation

Recognising that mass media can play an important constructive role building global democracy, BGD participants are happy to provide input. If you are a journalist requiring more information please telephone: +44 (0)24 7657 2532 or contact us by email.
