Kerstin Martens

Kerstin Martens, author of the UN study, is a Senior Researcher in the Collaborative Re­search Center ‘Transformations of the State’at the University of Bremen, Germany. Her research interests include NGOs, the UN, international organizations and education policy.

She is the author of NGOs and the United Nations (Palgrave Macmillan, 2005) and has published various articles in journals such as Human Rights Quarterly, Voluntas and Global Society on the issue of NGOs in world politics. She holds a PhD from the European University Institute, Florence.

 

During the workshop in Gothenburg Kirsten Marten’s UN study was discussed by Tatsuro Kunugi, ICU and ex-UN Renate Bloem, CONGO. This discussion was chaired by Sylva Frisk, SGS and the outcome of the discussion was used to develop and refine the study which will be published in book form along with all the other case studies in 2009.
