Case Studies

The Civil Society and Accountable Global Governance project includes detailed studies on relations between citizen action groups and 13 global regulatory institutions. The cases examine a variety of types of global governance, or ‘multiple multilateralisms’. Some of the studies relate to old-style intergovernmental organisations such as the United Nations and the World Trade Organisation. Other investigations look at newer forms of global governance such as transgovernmental networks (e.g. the Group of 8), interregionalism (e.g. the Asia-Europe Meeting), private regulatory mechanisms (e.g. the World Fair Trade Organisation), and public-private hybrids (e.g. the Global Fund to Fight HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria).
